Out of nothing

MAKE SOMETHING FROM NOTHING

Make Something From Nothing

Red Stripe®, the Jamaican beer company, recently teamed up with London-based Japanese sound artist Yuri Suzuki to create a series of cultural projects that celebrate the DIY culture of the brand’s Jamaican roots. Suzuki is best known for his sick homemade music machines including a flute made from an electric kettle and Scalectrix tracks made from old vinyl records.
Make Something from Nothing is the first project in the series – a giant (2.5 meters high!) sound sculpture created using thousands of Red Stripe® cans. Launched on November 16th at Village Underground, the sculpture draws inspiration from bass heavy Jamaican sound systems. During the exhibit, guests were treated to Jerk chicken and the best in Jamaican inspired beats, and — you guessed it — tons of Red Stripe®. The beats were provided by DJs Hessle Audio’s Ben UFO, NMBERS co-founder Spencer and Al Fingers.
