Folly for walls

Folly by Beth Katleman

Folly by Beth Katleman
Folly by Beth Katleman is a new show opening at Jane Hartsook Gallery that will showcase the artist’s installation of 3D porcelain “wallpaper.”
Inspired by and resembling 18th century wall coverings, the stories she tells in her figures are dark and humorous: bridesmaids end up in a pond, a poor duckling tumbles off a waterfall, and a reindeer answers nature’s porcelain call.

Street home

Light Butterflies by Chiara Lampugnani

Light Butterflies by Chiara Lampugnani
During the Milan International Led Light Festival, which ends on Monday, Chiara Lampugnani Design created an installation called Light Butterflies on Paolo Sarpi Street and Canonica Street. If you’re in the area this weekend, check it out.
Inspired by the Butterflies Oasis based in Palestro Street in Milan, the light butterflies by Chiara Lampugnani are an homage to the beauty of nature through the splendor and magic of light. They are a message to the city of Milan to slow down and think about the simple things in life as if through the eyes of a child.

So do we

Happy New Year! Let’s ROCK 2011!

Happy New Year to you!
We love this time of year.  It’s one of the only times of the year where you can begin and end every conversation with a small bit of encouragement to the other person — “Happy New Year.”  I wish you a happy, healthy, and successful new year. It’s nice to hear that kind of encouragement out loud.  Plus, it’s almost impossible not to crack a smile after someone wishes you a happy new year, and it’s fun to see others light up when you return the favor.  It’s like being at one giant birthday party where everyone is celebrating all at once!

Ryan Fischer is a theatrical lighting designer and new MFA Architectural Lighting Design student at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City.
